LUCKY ME!!

Anong Gagawin mo para makakain ng Lucky Me?
Child 1: "Ililigpit ko po ang toys ko tsaka...sarili ko po"

Child 2: "Sasabihin ko kay mommmy, 'Ang ganda-ganda mo'"

Child 3: "I'll be a good citizen, of the Philippines!"

This is an excerpt from the really funny commercial of Lucky Me!. This Brand has always promoted the funnier and happier side of life. Lately their commercial promotes family unity which promotes good values to kids. I think we should have more commercials like these, which promote being good kids or people. The more commercials this kind of values, I think we would have a different Philippines. Kid's should believe in something that is right and true instead of seeing shows or commercials that promote wrong things.

AKF- Animal Kingdom Foundation

One of the websites that appeal to my pet lovers side is this website. It is a foundation dedicated to the care of local askals who were captured by those who want to cook dogs. The government takes care of the raids while the dogs go here.

This was started by Charles Wartenburg who's dog is also an askal who won many awards abroad. The center is based in Capas, Tarlac where the dogs are fed, washed, vaccinated and taken care of.

This is the website where they post their dogs which are up for adoption for only 500 pesos. I certainly love this idea of a foundation and would gladly support it any day.

Death Note

I discovered this anime show (originally a manga, made into a show then made into a movie) on YouTube. Many people liked it for its story and characters. Our main character is named Light and he is the villain in the movie. He picks up the Death Note where any person you write down there will die. He started using that power to kill all criminals in the world. The police started hunting for him which led to other deaths. In the end the top secret detective was the one assigned to catch him. That was "L".

This very horror like show has many mythical and fictional parts in it. The story is really very good and it makes you want to keep on watching. This is one of the best anime shows i've watched. Athough it starts to get dragging later on the show is still really interesting and always has a dark twist.

FATBOY SLIM--WEAPON OF CHOICE

I have no idea as to why the video's wont upload to my blog but I have decided to just put a link.

This is one of my top 5 favorite music videos ever made. The fact that they were able to hire Christopher Walken as their main guy in the whole video is amazing. His funny antics in the video keep me and my brothers laughing all the time. I like the fact that Christopher Walken looks the same in the start and in the end of the movie. The set is actually like a hotel that is really big. The flying scenes are also very fun to watch, especially the diving part. I hope you enjoy the video!

Greys Anatomy Soundtrack

I loved the series and I love even more the soundtrack. WIth songs like:
1. Song Beneath the Song - Maria Taylor
2.Naked as We Came - Iron and Wine
3. Far Away Blues - Joe Purdy
4. There's a Girl - The Ditty Bops
5. Catch my Disease - Ben Lee
6. The Fear You Wont Fall - Josh Radin
7. Portions for Foxes - Rilo Kiley
8. Wait - Get Set Go
9. Not Going anywhere - Keren Ann
10. Such Great Heights - The Postal Service
11. Where Does the Good Go - Tegan & Sara
12. How to Save a Life - The Fray
13. Ruby Blue- Roisin Murphy

I loved everyone of the songs. They were relaxing and exciting in a way. I liked Ruby Blue by Roisin Murphy best, it was very upbeat and fun to listen to. The music (as studied in class) makes Greys Anatomy so much better and more fun to watch. This is one of the best compilations i have heard so far. I would recommend anyone to listen to it. If I had money, I would give people copies of this album, its really that good.

I applaud the person who picked and scored this TV show. It's really fun to hear good music while watching a good TV show. I believe that somehow one persons taste in music reflects her whole lifestyle.

MANNY PACQUIAO and ERIC MORALES

This commercial was very funny. I liked it because I find it very interesting that San Miguel Beer spent so much on this commercial. For one they have Manny Pacquiao, Coach Roach and Erik Morales. Not to mention the 50 extra's and the cars. I liked the commercial because it showed that kind of business friendship between Manny and Eric. This commercial is certainly worth its money due to the many viewers who eyes turned into saucers when they saw this commercial. I find it a very well made and well thought of commercial.

About A Boy

This movie is such a funny movie based on the book by Nick Hornby and it makes me laugh everytime at what Will Freeman (Hugh Grant) does. Its a comedy drama whose main character is a hip Londoner in his thirties who doesnt do anything in particular. He realizes one day that all of his friends are married which leaves him all alone. With that idea stuck in his head he tries to meet a lot of women, invents an imaginary son, and starts attending single parenting meetings.

Because of all this he ends up meeting Marcus (Nicholas Hoult) who is an odd 12 year old boy. They eventually become friends and in turn Will teaches Marcus how to be a cool kid while Marcus teaches Will how to finally act like a grown-up.
\

In the end you find yourself enjoying every moment of the movie and especially the key scene where Marcus sings in front of the school. You also get to understand the problems of people who are not like yourself and who try everyday to find a reason to keep going on.

This movie was excellently played by Hugh Grant and by Nicholas Hoult who both embodied their characters and the personalities. The story was a very good one, it had its own shares of laughter and of tears. Throughout the movie you felt different emotions like fear, excitement, happiness, and sadness. It is a must watch for me.

The Little Prince

I borrowed this old movie from my tita. I heard people talk about it and they didnt like it very much, they liked the book a lot better. I myself read the book back when I was Grade 2 and I dont remember it much so I cant compare a lot. In totality I enjoyed the movie. It was very heartwarming to see a child actor act very natural on screen at an age like that. His character played a very honest and curious boy who was looking for understanding. His stories and outlook on life were very different from anyone else in the universe and I guess its his way of thinking that hits us in our hearts. If everyone could think his way I guess the world will be much simpler and better. The author, Antoine de Saint-Exupery, i guess is truly a child at heart for him to think of such a story and such a character. I applaud also the acting of Gene Wilder and Frederick Loewe since they portrayed their characters really well.

NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM

I watched this movie with my family because I kept on hearing from my friends and my tita that the movie was really funny. I watched the movie and honestly, I wasn't that convinced with the humor and jokes in the movie. I guess maybe the standards were high for my tickle bone. But I did enjoy the movie and it's story. The actors were really great. Ben Stiller did a good job playing a caring divorced dad who just happened to work at a museum that comes to life. Dick Van Dyke played that old museum caretaker who just happened to be evil.

Special guest appearances by Robin Williams and Owen Wilson was a treat. They're funny lines made people crack up with laughter.

The characters in the movie were played well and the effects were really really good. I discovered right after watching that "Night at the Museum" is actually a children's book. I am glad that it was made into a movie and gave laughs to millions of people who might learn to love history once again.

Election Season = MORE COMMERCIALS!!!

Although I rarely watch TV nowadays, when I turn it on there is ALWAYS a commercial for a running senator or mayor. It is very sad seeing these commercials because it doesnt make you feel secure on who to vote and if they're good or not. Each commercial has its own strategies and slogans. Some are nice and interesting, some are just plain outrageous. For example: "Pichay, Itanim sa Senado!".

Those ads like that especially on the walls and posters are very very annoying. It creates more pollution around us. Especially if its plastic, its hard to decompose those materials. Some people complain about putting up those posters at night so that no one will catch them.

I think that these things sometimes go too far. There is a point in which we Filipino's have to see that these elections are not healthy, it just creates more corruption and sin. I just hope that someday we will end up more reformed and a more stable country.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

One of my favorite shows since it came to life. CSI is one of the best mystery shows and investigative shows on TV. It is still at the top of the charts and running. I like this show because of its intensity and being realistic. Sometimes, I like it because of its being morbid or violent, or when the mystery is really twisted and cliff-hanging.

One of my favorite episodes is when Nick Stokes gets kidnapped and is put in a coffin and the CSI team has to find him before he runs out of oxygen. It was very scary when the person who kidnapped Nick actually met up wth Grissom but blew-up himself and the money he asked for.

The reason why I picked this out is, this show shows some things that beings out the reality in some people. You start thinking, "Are there really people who would do that?". It makes you feel insecure but you start thinking about those situations. The lighting and location shots of CSI in comparison to CSI New York and others is way
better. And if you notice, CSI Miami has an orange tinge to it. :) Another plus is that Greg Sanders (Eric Szmanda) is way hot.

THE END IS NEAR...

Yes. The end of the year is finally approaching and truthfully I can't wait. I am happy to say that I survived my Third Year with all the quizzes, homework, projects and of course the exams. This will be my last batch of blog entries for this year and it will be my finale. I am going to do my best in my entries because its the last leg of the race :) I need to put some more effort.

This batch of media blog entries are as always without a theme as some might have. I will have movies, commercials, some video's embedded, and some songs. I will try to cover this range the best I can. So hang on for just a bit and ENJOY!

HAPPY FEET!

I watched Happy Feet some weeks ago, I found it really amusing. Although the movies goal was effective it showed itself too much. The goal was to make people more environmentally aware of Penguins and the like but in the end the way that they did it was too obvious. It is also unrealistic that they had to say that the people would become environmentally aware in the movie in a matter of small time due to dancing penguins. I find it the main reason why the movie was a drag at the end. The actors were big time and amusing but the story really went wrong.

THE PRESTIGE

So far the best movie i've watched in a long time because it made my blood run wild. My blood running wild has not happened in watching movies recently. An excellent story and plot which was acted and directed by the best people namely; Hugh Jackman, Scarlett Johansson, Christian Bale, Michael Caine and David Bowie. I applaud and give a standing ovation of one person to this movie. It's exciting and riveting and entertaining. The plus side is that it makes you think afterwards. Some people dislike the movie due to not living up to it's "magic" but I look at it as a tale of obsession. My favorite movie so far. ;)

Michael andrews-mad world

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very mad world mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me

And I find it kinda funnyI find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell youI find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very mad world ... world

This song is my one of my favorite songs which i first heard my cousins sing it during our Christmas performances. It's a wonderful song with a tune that goes over and over again about how 'mad' the world is.

It explains how the world is today with all of it's problems and miseries. Being in the world today just letting it out in one song just defines all of it. It is a sad song but it bravely faces the reality of how we sometimes feel about what is around us. But I know that I should not define this world by this song but resolve to do what is right, and what is right is to change this world into something better.

This is a remake of the song by Tears For Fears but I like it better than TFF because it a slower more mellow tune and it fits with the song too.

My Favorite Commercial

This is my favorite commercial of all time. The idea is simple for a beer commercial but is sure to bring you laughs. It's totally original, creative and low budget. Although this commercial has been banned for special reasons ;)

I love how it shows you what beer may do to you at the same time it has the power to make you laugh so hard. Simple yet understandable and truly funny.

Angels & Demons by Dan Brown

Truly a fascinating read. As the Washington Post said, "Unputdownable". I started yesterday and could not put it down. The plot is carefully made and is a mystery full of puzzles and secrets. Every situation and character has a catch and your heart stops in the most exciting parts.

I read the "The Da Vinci Code" and for me "Angels and Demons" is way more thrilling and exciting for me. I have read many books in my lifetime and this is the only book so far that makes me exclaim loudly in the climax moments. Dan Brown is a total genius i knowing all these facts and I admire him for his intelligence in making this story. Such controversies and stories he made that would shake the world and that it did. "Angels & Demons" was a bit more violent than "The Da Vinci Code" and I would suggest that it would cost more to make considering the more lines it crossed with the papacy of Rome.

One of the best books I have ever read and truly a must read fro those who dare to. Don't worry it won't dissuade your faith in fact in some ways it can make your faith stronger.

The Devil Wears Prada

I felt like I was rushed into a whirl of color, sights and sounds. A fantastic and wonderful movie, and I'm not even talking about the clothes at all. The acting of Meryl Streep was superb, and Anne Hathaway was really good too. The story wsa so nice and heart warming too. A very enjoyable movie with no uncomfortably mushy scenes.

The costumes were gorgeous. All the famous stores of Gucci, Fendi, Dolce & Gabanna, Louis Vuitton, and many many more came together and created this winderfully made masterpiece of different artworks. The sets that were based in Paris and New York were just great and the story about the current fashion world's ideals was too true.

It made you realize somehow how different people are these days in terms of principles. All of their attention is focused on parties, clothes and high fashion. This movie is sort of like a more refined Tessa Prieto Valdez. The scenes and lines are quirky and interesting. And Meryl is just THE best actress ever to walk the earth.

Truly a must watch movie.

Philippine Daily Inquirer and its Principles

My family has declined from buying newspapers locally for over a year. But every once in a while we buy an issue of STAR or PDI for the local news. I observed how much change the Lifestyle or Entertainment parts had gone through. For one it focused more on high-class fashion meaning: vanity, money, parties. It showed teenagers or people who are in their mid-twenties that being a Socialite is everything in this material world.

PDI's writers like Tim Yap and Tessa Prieto Valdez are one of the first who started the regime of Socialite madness on it's pages. Just open the next issue you'll find interviews with questions filled with vain principles which ask about possessions or about how much they are wearing.

I think that this kind of media with it's principles influences much on all of us today. We should al thnk of sorting out our priorities in life when reading even the newspaper. Parties and social gatherings aren't the only things in the world. There is a world outside that needs more attention than what everyone else wearing.

Kyle XY
I started watching this show during summer out of boredom. Since I am a YouTube baby I decided to research shows which were on in the US and see if it was on YouTube. Kyle XY is about a guy who was literally born as a 16 year old in a forest. He woke up not knowing where he was and he did not even know how to speak or talk, he was just so curious about what was going around him. Since he went from the forest to the City naked, the police thought he might be crazy and sent him to juvenile prison. The police knew he was a bit tweaked so they sent him to live with the Trager family where he learns how to be a human being and decides to learn more about where he came from and why he was like that.

As Kyle stays with his new family, he struggles with the High school system at the same time, his own 'brother' thinks he's an alien from outer space. He doesnt know anything about his past life when he was young and still struggles to find out.
Kyle XY was a show that is Sci-Fi, its like a mix of X-Files and a normal teenager TV sit-com. The idea on the story is so interesting.Since the series isn't finished yet I don't know the whole story but it's sort of a clone TV show with a super-genius as their main character and teenage problems as a mix.

For those who are into Sci-Fi shows, this show is really cool. Full of mystery and adventure. For teenagers, this show has a lot of teenage drama in it too.

World of Warcraft Addict

My term paper will be about "Addiction to technology", this entry will be only an introduction since video games are also media to the young people of today.

As you can see in the video there is living proof that teenagers from all over the globe are hooked on online video games that are so addictive that they just keep on playing on and on for hours. Games like Ragnarok, World of Warcraft and DoTA are only a few of the games that millions are playing today.

I personally have seen it's effects on people since my old classmates would play the whole day straight. By word of mouth they would share their online adventures to their other friends and they in turn get hooked up to the game too. I myself tried the online game of Ragnarok but my attention span lasted 10 seconds into the game. In other words, I wasn't interested at all.

My brothers (aged 11 and 8) are hooked on to games on their DS (Nintend
o Dual Screen) that have games that can keep you going like Metroid Prime Hunters and games even like MarioKart. But don't get me wrong, it's not only the internet and the DS but Playstations and X-boxs all around the world keep boys and girls at home and not playing outdoors.

These things have effects on people and they may be physical and mental. There is a man in China who killed himself because he wanted to live so bad in a fantasy world after playing 36 hours straight. Another Korean played more than 50 hours and died because of exhaustion. People tend to play for minutes that lead to hours and hours everyday.

This has become a sickness in the world and it is hard to get out of the cycle. Teenagers should realize just how dangerous this sickness is, and its effects on the principles on violence is astounding. We should all come to realize one wy or another where we are on this and prevent it form happening to your brother, cousin, or son.
